You, Me and the Media
This project investigates the product people broadcast of themselves on social media.
With further research, it tries to apply the mechanisms of social media through the tool of virtual reality to allow the user to mass customize the city through an interactive interface. Mass customization has its excitement today, and while it has been successfully applied to smaller – scaled objects following mass production, a lot of factors in the city play a role in its application on a larger scale. Therefore, the project suggests an interactive game with augmented reality that could be beneficial for the users of the city to customize the large scale of an urban environment in the virtual world.
The main concept of the fresh tool is in its ability to include new experiences onto the existing environment, “which can transcend the physical limitations of built infrastructure and the hierarchies who govern our visual and social experiences” (draft 2013).
Using augmented reality technologies in architectural and city designs has great potential that goes beyond our knowledge and abilities of the physical and beyond visualized information, but into creating new spaces of interaction that are both playful and meaningful. The main reason for choosing augmented reality to depict the thought behind this proposal is its ability to exist parallel to the actual built environment without
the need to change it or physically distort it.
