The Cloud, Connecting minds:  Info-sphere as a project of planetary scaled computation.

The cloud opens a new era where planetary scale computation connects minds of living and non-living creatures; a multiple scale infrastructure that bridges across cultures, dissolve borders and unveils pulses of the Planet Earth to humanity.

Environmental challenges are widely extended throughout the stratums of the Planet Earth; the need for urgent action to reverse damages on the lithosphere and the atmosphere while improving the quality of life of millions of people urges humanity to overcome borders and bridge across cultures. The proposal for the Israel Dubai2020 Pavilion reflects on the possibilities that The Cloud as the XXIC infrastructure offers to connect minds; unveiling some of the challenges and opportunities that the cloud infrastructure brings with. The cloud refers to the global information technology that is currently taking on traditional governing roles such as identity or currency, reorganizing the use of energy and resources in the planet and enabling new communities and new sharing economies. The cloud is the latent infrastructure empowered by sensors, algorithms and actuators offering to the world a new architecture consisting of a dynamic mix of materials and structures.

The Cloud Pavilion is sitting on a dynamic landscape of dunes. The first experience of the visitor arriving to the site is the lightness and immateriality of the cloud sitting on two points, being able to experience the space between the cloud and the dune landscape and the reflection caused by thin film of water. This public space under the cloud is a space for social interaction, wondering and congregation. Plants, visitors, lights and sensors convert this space into a first grand lobby for interaction. The space accommodates both the entrance and the exit to the Cloud Experience and a café.

The visitor enters in the pavilion following a gentle slope of the dune landscape. A Sinuous Mobius path takes the visitor up from the dune landscape and walks the visitor throughout the different spaces of the cloud. The structure of the cloud is a semi reinforced monocoque structure in which stresses are reacted by a thin membrane or shell of material. The lightness of the shipyard structure allows for introducing different a materiality, transparencies and Light emitting diots. The cloud itself is an interactive device that can be actuated
