Busan Opera House
The proposal for Busan Opera House is defined by the way it is perceived in the ambiance of the port. Its unique location, an island rather than a peninsula, seen from the mountain, from the seaside and from a wide range of angles in the bay gives the project the character of a landmark and a beacon. The building and its rendering are in a constant dialogue producing a new centrality for the city. The scale of the proposal responds to the magnificent scale of the setting. The program is elevated and the building is sitting in two points letting the organic landscape passing though. The concrete shell of the building is cut showing a cross section of the activities happening inside. The section faces the city and shows the program as a form of urban mirror. The program of the building is projected towards the city making the facade a new form of spectacle.
